Eclectic mix as with season 4...Aug 23, 2005
By Daniel W. Kelly Once again, the dance music, the rock songs, the jazzy tunes, the trip hop, and everything else used in a full season of Queer as Folk is put on one disc. Tracks 1-5 are thumpa thumpa tunes, then a mix of the more jazzy and experimental rock tracks comes in until the dance music returns from tracks 11-14. The disc is not beat mixed, and all versions are predominantly short. Most noticeably, Geri Halliwell's Ride It is listed on the CD as the Hex Hector 12" mix, but it's actually nearly 3 minutes shorter than the actual 12" version!!! Still and all, this disc is definitely going to remind you of the final season of the show, concluding with the remix of Heather Small that ended the series (and probably sent chills down the spines of all faithful viewers). Also very cool is that this time, the CD insert describes exactly what scene of which episode each songs was used in (note that the songs are not in the order of the episodes in which they were used). Also, I got my copy at Best Buy, and it did not come with a free QAF bandana. My only real wish here is that, as with Season 3, I think for the big going away CD, they should have made this two discs, separated the styles of music a bit more, and given us the long versions of stuff like Geri Halliwell, Ultra Nate, Cyndi Lauper and Heather Small-and also included other tracks used in the season, such as D1 featuring Lisa Hunt doing "Joint is Jumpin," which is a slammin' club track used in the closing credits of one episode-and a track which is really hard to find. Track times:
1. the skins (2:52)
2. Ride It (5:07)
3. Hardcore mutha (4:57)
4. Jin go lo ba (4:42)
5. Free (4:39)
6. Dance me to the end of love (3:57)
7. My beautiful friend (5:03)
8. Fever (4:59)
9. This mess we're in (3:55)
10. Personal jesus (4:08)
11. Drama (5:37)
12. Summer moon (4:51)
13. Shine (4:24)
14. Proud (5:01)

Last DanceSep 10, 2005

Do all good things really have to come to an end? The hit Showtime series Queer As Folk may have ended its five year-run a few weeks ago, but at least we are able to bask in the afterglow just a bit longer with the CD release of "The Final Season." And just when you thought the long line of music couldn't get any better -- it does. Not only has the series of music CD's from the show been consistently cool, they seem to keep getting better. This collection from the fifth and final season is proof that sometimes you just can't get enough of a good thing.
The line-up on this CD is certainly up to par with the past discs, and may I say this could be the best yet! The leadoff track is a thump `n bump disco romp titled "The Skins" from Scissor Sisters, a group that has earned its rightful place in music history all within the past two years. The always irresistible Geri Halliwell treats us to her brilliant take on "Ride It" remixed by Hex Hector. Other highlights include Madeleine Peyroux's "Dance Me To The End Of Love," PJ Harvey's "This Mess We're In," Superpitcher's "Fever" and Marilyn Manson's ode to "Personal Jesus." Rounding out the 14-track set are personal favorites, including Cyndi Lauper's "Shine" remixed and remade with an extra thump that'll have you pumping your fist in the air while on the dance floor, around the pool or behind the wheel. The last track is the appropriately titled "Proud" by Heather Small. This track was meticulously chosen, not only for its infectious chorus and statement, but it has queer anthem written all over it. It's been a while since our last gay anthem; dare I say we have a new one? A resounding YES! And I'm damn proud to spread the news!

I bought this album just for the Presta mix of "Proud" but ended up loving practically the whole album. A little something for everyone on this soundtrack!

QAF season 5 soundtrackJan 19, 2007
By K. Andrich Following in the lines of the other 4 seasons' soundtracks, this one is really good. There are some great songs on here, like "skin" and "personal jesus". I highly reccommend this, you won't be dissappointed.

I loved this CD. I only wished it had "Attention" by Commander Tom, which is played at the end of one the episodes.
