Light Me Up is an unflinchingly honest chronicle of Momsen's experiences, filtered through her unique point of view. ''The record is about life'', she says. ''It covers everything: love, death, and music itself. It's Rock 'n' Roll. It's sex. It's drugs. It's religion. It's politics. Each song tells a story about the trials and tribulations and emotional struggles that I've experienced or observed. It's not a happy pop record, but it's not Satan-worshiping either''. amazing vocals, grungy guitar, pure rock and rollApr 14, 2011
By tenscott I am amazed at this album!! So tired of all the auto-tuned female singers out there. This girl has an amazing range on this album. I have also checked out the "acoustic" versions of many of the tracks and she carries them as well, if not better, vocally. I read some people say she was "trying too hard." If this girl and her group are NOT around for years, then the rock world truly is dead. This is not an overproduced, auto-tuned, mechanized, blahblahblah record. This is just grungy, gritty, rock and roll. The haters who talk about her "style" are probably the same ones that have been looking at her half-naked shots on TV and in print (she was a Ford model after all) and liking them. A total antithesis to the fake prom queens (M.C., B.S., etc...)with their overproduced, over-p.r.'d handlers and messages. What you hear, what you see, at least she is who she is. Quit being a prude, sit back with some great speakers/headphones, crank up the volume, hit "play and repeat all" and get blown away!!! My first favorite album of the year! And at this point, it's number 39 on Amazon! So, I am NOT alone on this...

Awesome AlbumApr 26, 2011
By DAB1234 This album is truly an amazing album. I wasn't expecting much from an actress from "Gossip Girl", but Taylor Momsen blew me away. Shes an amazing artist with an amazing voice and the songs are actually complex and VERY good. I haven't stopped listening to this CD since I bought it. It can be the background music and soundtrack of your life for any mood your in or any activity you are doing. Definitely worth the $10.

One of the best rock albums of 2011Aug 25, 2011
By R. Ainge It may be hard to believe, but the little girl from Gossip Girl has put out one of the best rock albums of 2011. Light Me Up rocks hard and fast and reminds me of mid-90's era Hole. Taylor Momsen is actually a very good singer and has quite a bit of snarl and attitude in her voice. Every song on the album is good, but the standouts to me are Make Me Wanna Die, Light Me Up, Just Tonight, and my favorite Miss Nothing. I've been listening to this album non-stop for about 2 weeks and it just gets better and better. A great debut that makes me excited for the band's future.

Worth the money!Jun 05, 2011

For such a wild girl, Taylor has an A-amazing voice that will be sure to bring people knocking on her door for another CD. The grunge tone of her voice is able to grab your attention very quickly and I for one definitely am glad to have bought this CD. I am also very interested to see what she brings out for her next CD, whether they will have a few happier songs rather than the tone she went for with this one. It is a step outside of the everyday pop music filling the charts and if she can keep her wits about herself, she is definitely an artist to watch out for because her voice is gold.

Beyond AwesomeJan 09, 2012
By Rock Report If you like rock, you will love this CD. I'm a hip-hop guy and I love this band! This is song writing at the highest level. About a million times better than the droning monotony of most "new Rock". Taylor Momsen's voice is sublime. Long live The Pretty Reckless!
