Kelly Rowland declares Here I Am with self affirmation, motivationJul 26, 2011
By Njai Joszor The title of Kelly Rowland's third studio album is no accident. Years after singing songs like "Soldier" and "Independent Women" as 1/3 of Destiny's Child and some solo success including the Grammy Award winning smash "When Love Takes Over," Rowland is officially charting her own path with "Here I Am". While defiant, like the sensual chart-topping single "Motivation," "Here I Am" is heavy on self affirmation and confidence but light on everything else.
Led by the fiery declaration "I'm Dat Chick," in which Rowland thrusts "I tell them keep on talking cause` I love the attention," "Here I Am" packs enough punch to excite listeners for some time but will likely be drowned out by more pressing and inventive tunes from others. Perhaps it is the buzz behind "Motivation" that raised expectations, add to that a defining performance at the 2011 BET Awards, but "Here I Am" leaves you wavering between commendation and boredom after a few listens. That is not to say "Here I Am" is an effort filled with mediocrity, it is, like a lot of albums today, one that has its timeless songs and others that last for a fleeting moment.
Three tracks that stand out, beyond the already successful "Motivation" and "Commander," are "Turn It Up," "Feelin Me Right Now," and "All of the Night".
"Turn It Up," an infectious record that kicks off with Rowland singing "I could tear the whole world down," fits well with her vocal prowess. While not as much a dance record, like "Commander," "Turn It Up" goes down smooth as Rowland sings to the former object of her affection who just so happens to be with another woman she could "tell everything". Apt, "Turn It Up" follows the similarly fluid "Feeling Me Right Now". Daring, like "Motivation" and "I'm Dat Chick," this song finds Rowland singing "don't you leave without my handcuffs, I made some special plans for us tonight". Handcuffs aren't the only thing Kelly coos about on this album, which is, if nothing else, way more intense, sexually, than any of her other efforts. "All of the Night," following the aforementioned in order, plays heavily to that end opening with the line "In the middle of the bedroom, kitchen or the hallway, just give me a little legroom and a little bit of foreplay".
If the sex-driven songs are not your thing, Kelly does take a moment to recognize relationships, at least her man in particular. Drafting fellow Houston-native Lil Playy, Rowland attempts to applaud the love of a "Work It Man" who "ain't scared" to carry her baggage. That all goes south however, on "Heaven & Earth," a strong ballad (one of few on the album, "Keep It Between Us" another), as she cries out "no more feeling sorry for myself cause I know my worth... because I know I deserve heaven and earth," as she kicks her man to the curb.
While Kelly spends much of this album playing with radio friendly R&B/Urban Pop, sans "Lay It On Me," she revisits the music that earned her much solo success in recent years -- dance. Led by the chart-topping single "Commander," Rowland picks up where she left off with "When Love Takes Over" on songs like the stomp worthy "Down For Whatever" followed by the bonus track "Each Other," an equally infectious record perfect for clubs.
Overall, Kelly Rowland deserves praise for taking a chance with this album, arguably her best effort to date. While it lacks the punch necessary to make it a smash, it is a worthy upgrade that could lead to greater solo success. After all, this is "Here I Am" not "All I Have". If you must make a few selections, listen to "Turn It Up," "Feelin' Me Right Now," "Lay It On Me," "Motivation," "Down For Whatever" and "All of the Night".

I am so LOVING this album. Kelly is definitely making her markJul 26, 2011
By BrooklynGirl Kelly is definitely making her mark. This album shows a new side of kelly, one that show she is confident and she can stand alone in the music industry and I'm loving it. I love the songs, it's sexy, it's just an overall great album. I will definitely be pumping this in my ipod on my way to work in the mornings. I think everyone should really get into this album. I think some people are so hung over Beyonce that they won't even give Kelly a chance. She is definitely here and I think it's about time that everyone sees it. Go Kelly. Keep doing the damn thing.

Kelly Rowland "Here I Am" ReviewJul 26, 2011
By Kenechukwu Obianagha Kelly Rowland is finally getting the recognition she deserves although its only arriving at a third album attempt. Her first album had her dabble in Rock/Pop. A genre far off her alley all in an attempt to differentiate her from the usual sound of her Destinys Child days and obviously paving the way for her fellow member Beyonce. The album was modest but not worthy of a recognition coming off a top charting single with Nelly. Her second album skewed more towards the Urban community evident from her debut single "Like This". No memorable singles and poor sales would see her get dropped from her label. Fast forward 4 years later, Kelly is out with with a new label, new management and a hot new record. Overall a solid the album and has many potential singles. Kelly might face difficulty pleasing fans shes captivated with her reign as Dance Diva but they will have to wait for the International album. For now, enjoy the album. 4/5
Standout tracks include-: "Work it Man" ft Lil Play (Reminiscient of "Soldier" Destinys Child) "Motivation" ft Lil Wayne "Lay it on Me" ft Big Sean "Feeling me Right Now" ( Has to be a single) "All of the Night" ft Rico Love
As much as we like upbeat tempo songs, it would have been nice to have slow tempo songs that really showcase her voice. Nonetheless, its a great effort from the R&B Diva. Definitely worth a buy. 4/5 for Ms. Rowland.

The Beginning of Many More To Come!!!Jul 28, 2011
By Jay This is by far Kelly Rowland's best effort, and I know there will be many more to come.

Work It Man-5/5: Excellent R&B Track. Vocally it's great and Lil Playy raps two very nice verses.
Motivation-5/5: This song has spoken for itself. I knew it would be a hit on first listen.
Lay It On Me-4.5/5: Nice Summer Record.
Feeling Me Right Now 5/5: This is definitely single worthy. One of the album's stand-out tracks.
Turn It Up-4.5/5: I love the concept of this song. Kelly gives great vocals here.
All of The Night-5/5: Very radio-friendly song. Could definitely work well as a single.
Keep It Between Us-5/5: My personal favorite. This track is flawless. Hands down!
Commander 5/5: Loved Commander since Kelly premiered it at the 2010 Winter Music Conference.
Down For Whatever-4/5: This song has great potential to be another Kelly Rowland Dance hit, but I prefer R&B Kelly any day.
Heaven & Earth 5/5: I love this record. It describes Kelly to a T. It's a soul-searching, tear-jerking ballad.
Each Other 5/5: Each Other is a nice party jam, and I love Kelly's vocals on this.
Motivation (Rebel Rock Remix)-4.5/5: I like it, but nothing compares to the original!
Commander Urban Remix 4/5: Nice slow jam, but the original overshadows this as well!

Kelly what a Phenomenal LadyJul 27, 2011
By Lashunda Miller
"Trying to get fit and healthy"
From the arm pumping I'm Dat Chick to the sex driven Motivation to the sexy sly kitten Feeling Me Right Now, Ms Kelly is showing that at 30 she is a GROWN A** WOMAN. She does not stand in anybody's shadow she stands only in their light. She shows that not only can she sing but she is also a very sexual being. If you are to stiff to let yourself be free and enjoy the pure sexual freeness that Rowland gives you with this album then it is not for you. But if you want to go on a sexual journey then you need to get Miss Rowland's album. She is giving you everything you need self worth, the freeness to feel sexy and the ability to love even when you have been hurt by another. This album is a must have and while I may be biased because I have been a Kelly Rowland fan since her first solo album Simply Deep. She is a pure talent and if you have never heard her before then you should hear her now.
