Perfection @ it's best!!Mar 13, 2009
By Kyle I have to say that i've always been a fan of RuPaul...but, i've only liked a few of her songs like Supermodel, Snap Shot, & Looking Good Feeling Gorgeous. However, her album Champion is perfection at its best. This album is flawless to the point where i was wishing there were more tracks or some bonus tracks even! 1. Main Event - 9 out of 10 2. Jealous of My Boogie - 10 out of 10 3. Cover Girl (First Single off this album) - 9 out of 10 4. Tranny Chaser - 10 out of 10 5. Ladyboy - 9 out of 10 6. Champion [MY FAVORITE TRACK] - 10 out of 10 7. Never Go Home Again - 8 out of 10 8. Destiny Is Mine - 7 out of 10 9. Lets Turn The Night - 8 out of 10 10. Devil Made Me Do It - 6 out of 10 11. Drag Race - 10 out of 10 12. Throw Ya Hand Up - 4 out of 10 This is a MUST buy album for all the pop, dance, and r&b lovers at there! Plus don't forget to watch RuPaul's Drag Race.! Luvs It!

A high energy CD with a positive messageFeb 18, 2010
By Braden Pickering RuPaul is one of those people whom I've always been peripherally aware of, but didn't really start paying much attention to until recently, when I caught a random episode of Drag Race on television. He's a total riot and someone I imagine being really cool to hang out with, so just for fun I splurged on his latest CD, Champion, having only heard one song prior - the infectious booty-shaker Jealous of My Boogie. That was all the incentive I needed.
While some of the tunes flirt with the generic, thumping 90's club sounds from the likes of C&C Music Factory or Real McCoy (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, mind you), Champion is overall very much on the cutting edge of modern electronica and at least 10 of the 12 tracks rely on auto-tuning and electric voice altering. Cher plus Madonna, times ten, equals RuPaul, lol. I personally love it, but I can also see how someone not into that kind of music to begin might be completely repulsed. Again, not necessarily a bad thing. Just a heads up.
Not only is the disc high energy from start to finish, the lyrics are very positive and uplifting. The general theme seems to be one of self-acceptance, positive thinking, being true to yourself and just having fun. A number of songs stick out as my favorites, such as LadyBoy, which I dare anyone not to hum along with, and the catchy, attitude-driven Jealous of My Boogie which I mentioned above. Never Go Home Again is a poignant story a lot of gay, lesbian, and transgender youths can relate to, and probably the closest thing to a ballad on this CD. (Though I would definitely not define this as just a "gay" CD.) The only song I'm not super crazy about is Tranny Chase, despite it having the most awesome title, lol. It's just a little too hip-hoppy for my taste and seems out of place amongst all the other faster electronica songs, but even that can kind of fun if you're in a campy sort of mood. So for anyone who ever felt out of place, alone, or ugly, I would recommend this CD, because it's sure to bring a smile to your face. May the fierce be with you!

Please Bring On RuPaul's Drag Race II and then III and then IV !Apr 01, 2009
By Pua C. I just received this cd and I agree -- its really, really good! It is a solid listen from top to bottom. I found myself enjoying being alive on this fine sunny spring day as I listened to it on the way to work. Nice! Spending time listening to this cd shows what "good energy" RuPaul brings to the world. The highlight for me is the infectious keyboard riff on Covergirl which was used extensively on the show RuPaul's drag race such as when the contestants took their walks on the catwalk. Covergirl is a very worthy bookend to her previous smash hit supermodel (actually, covergirl may in fact be better!) Take a listen to the samples available on amazon to get a sense and then buy this -- you will be pleased with it and there will be no need to be jealous of anyone's boogie. When this cd is on you are going to want to sante and stay -- not sashay away..... Here are my individual song ratings --
1. Main Event - 10 out of 10 2. Jealous of My Boogie - 10 out of 10 3. Cover Girl - 10 out of 10 4. Tranny Chaser - 9 out of 10 5. Ladyboy - 9 out of 10 6. Champion - 9 out of 10 7. Never Go Home Again - 8 out of 10 8. Destiny Is Mine - 9 out of 10 9. Lets Turn The Night - 9 out of 10 10. Devil Made Me Do It - 9 out of 10 11. Drag Race - 9 out of 10 12. Throw Ya Hand Up - 9 out of 10

I'm living RIGHT here! Champion is the tops!Mar 26, 2009
By Jerome A. Singletary I must admit, I am a die-hard, true blue fan of Ms. Charles....she was, is,and will always be the grande dame diva of them all. This album in a word ROCKS!!!!!! Main Event is evocative of the retro discos era, but gives you a contemporary base line that gets you primed and ready for a funtastic ride down Ru's lane of fabulosity! I just love this album. And the duet with lady Bunny just makes me wanna twirl! GREAT JOB RU!!!!!!!

Why Can I Not Buy the CD?!May 07, 2010
By Funny Prof Let me start by saying that what I have heard of this album has been fabulous, and I am very excited to own it.
But first, I have a gripe:
Okay, look. I think technology is swell and all, but am I the only one who wants to have the actual CD with all of its original packaging to hold in my hot little hand and to put in my collection forever?!
While I admit I will put the songs on my iPod, I also want an original CD from the manufacturer because I'm sort of a dork that way. I resent being forced to purchase an mp3 version of an entire album when I'm ready to pay good money for the pre-made, pre-packaged version.
I was forced years ago to let go of my affinity for vinyl, and now I'm being forced to do the same with CDs. When will this end?
Does anyone know where I can get my mitts on the actual CD? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
